Onam Celebration

Onam Celebration at St. Vincent’s Convent School, Keralapuram St. Vincent’s Convent School, Keralapuram, was filled with festive cheer as students and staff came together to celebrate Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala, on August 29, 2024. The celebration began with a traditional floral rangoli, or Pookalam, created by students, symbolizing prosperity and unity. The school premises were adorned with vibrant decorations, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Kerala. A special assembly was held where students narrated the legend of King Mahabali, the beloved ruler whose homecoming is celebrated during Onam. The program included mesmerizing performances such as Thiruvathira, traditional songs, and a lively Pulikali (tiger dance), bringing the spirit of Onam to life. One of the highlights of the celebration was the grand Onam Sadya, a traditional feast served on banana leaves, which everyone enjoyed together. Teachers and students also participated in various games like Vadamvali (tug of war) and Uriyadi (pot-breaking), adding excitement and laughter to the day. The event fostered a sense of community and cultural pride, reminding everyone of the importance of unity and gratitude. The principal, in her address, emphasized the values of inclusiveness and joy that Onam signifies, leaving everyone inspired to carry forward these traditions with enthusiasm and respect.
